Before that, Jerome Mayne was the founder and CEO of two corporations, respected in the financial community and the father of two young boys. Jim Pair

Jim Pair has been intricately involved in the mortgage industry since 1961 and has held numerous leadership roles for various organizations within the mortgage industry. Jim served as the President of two Savings and Loan Associations, President of the Texas Association of Mortgage Brokers in 2000 and 2001and served for six years on the Mortgage Broker Advisory Committee for the Texas Savings and Loan Department. Jim also has experience as a real estate instructor.

Not only has Jim been actively involved in his local and state committees and organizations, but he has held several leadership roles for the National Association of Mortgage Brokers. NAMB represents and promotes the mortgage broker industry by providing education, programs, professional certification and government affairs representation. Jim served as Chairman for several NAMB committees and in 2006, he was elected to the NAMB Board of Directors. Later that year, NAMB awarded him, "Broker of the Year for 2006-2007." Most recently, Jim served as NAMB's Director, Secretary and President-Elect and in July 2009, Jim became the official President of NAMB.

Marc Savitt

Immediate Past President of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) Marc Savitt remains active in the national organization as current Vice Chair of Government Affairs and its Task Force Chair for the HVCC issue.

Marc is regularly involved in discussions with Congress, HUD, the Attorneys General in his home state of West Virginia, and the FTC for such issues as predatory lending, fraud and the unfair and deceptive practices by some affiliated business arrangements. He regularly testifies on mortgage related issues before the Senate Banking Committee and the US House of Representatives.

In the years preceding his 2008-2009 NAMB Presidency, Marc served the organization as President-elect, Vice President, Director and Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee and Chairman of Government Affairs.

As Government Affairs Chair, he began a campaign against the unfair and deceptive practices by some of the nation's homebuilders. He also was named the organization's NAMB Broker of the Year for 2006-2007.

Prior to his national involvement, Marc served as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Legislative Chairman for the West Virginia Association of Mortgage Brokers. While active with his state association, he was instrumental in the passage of several pieces of legislation, including West Virginia's original mortgage broker licensing law, and an amendment to that law, which requires continuing education for brokers. In 2002, West Virginia mortgage brokers were facing a newly imposed 6% sales tax on their earnings. Marc crafted legislation, which not only exempted brokers from an unfair tax, but made it retroactive.

Marc is president and owner of The Mortgage Center, which is based in Martinsburg, WV, and recently celebrated its 24th anniversary.

Mike Selvaggio CCIM,CRS,GRI  entered the real estate business in 1975.  He is a licensed broker and REALTOR® in Delaware and Pennsylvania.  He sells and lists homes and also actively markets new-home communities.

Selvaggio was named REALTOR® of the Year in 1990 for the state of Delaware.  He has served as President of the Delaware Association of REALTORS® and President of his local board.  He has been published internationally and continues to write articles and instructional DVD and CDs. 

As a Life Director for the Home Builder's Association of Delaware, Mike has been able to bring sales and marketing ideas to students that not only work, but have been "field tested."  His two most exciting professional accomplishments were earning the CRS and CCIM designations.  He thoroughly enjoys educational sessions with other real estate professionals.

 Mike is a Senior Instructor with the Council of Residential Specialists, an affiliate of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, and served as the 2008 National President of the Council of Residential Specialists. He is also one of five nationally certified Ninja Selling Instructors. He has taught thousands of REALTORS throughout the United States and the Bahamas.

Selvaggio, a REALTOR® since 1975, has made a career-long commitment to education. He is a senior CRS Course Instructor, and he has honed his leadership skills while serving as President of his local board of REALTORS® and as President of the Delaware Association of REALTORS®. He also has served on many Council committees.

Selvaggio says his leadership experience has taught him a lot about working with people. "I've learned that you need to give what you want to receive. You always have the opportunity to grow by getting involved with the right people," he says. "There are two kinds of people in the world — those who give energy and those who take it away. I'm proud to say that, through CRS, I have met a tremendous number of those in the first category."

Selvaggio opened his own Ninja style real estate company, Delaware Homes, in 2007 and now has two locations serving all of Delaware. He attributes much of his career and his company's success to the training he received through the Council's education program. "The CRS Courses helped me understand everything that I did not know, and then taught me everything I should be doing. It was the defining difference in my career," Selvaggio says.

He adds that while the current housing market presents challenges for REALTORS®, there are also opportunities. "I have been coaching agents who work in some very challenging markets across the country, and I believe that attitude — of REALTORS®, the public and the press — has been a major factor in what is happening in residential real estate. We professionals can recognize that now is a terrific time to buy, not only for our buyer clients, but for ourselves! There are tremendous opportunities for people who want to own their own homes," Selvaggio says.
